It all started when my daughter Zuri asked me, “Mommy, what connections classes should I select for 7th grade?”

I was perplexed.

You see, I grew up in Kenya. We didn’t have much deviation in our classes at that age, so this was new to me. My initial answer to her was, “I don’t know!”

However I quickly followed that with, “What options are there, let’s figure it out together!”

Even though I had graduated with my Bachelor’s degree here in America, understanding how the K-12 school system works and how to navigate every grade for maximum impact was a learning curve. I was determined to research and be knowledgeable to ensure my children would get the best opportunities to flourish and grow in their educational paths.

I come from a 15-year background in the Educational Technology industry as a Software Analyst with a special passion to help the immigrant family navigate the complex American high school to college pipeline. Drawing from these experiences analyzing state test scores and outcomes, I use data and school information to create individualized student pathways and map out course sequences for a successful high school experience. This is the foundational work for every student to be able to thrive in HS and beyond.
